About the Manimahesh Trek:
The Mani Mahesh Trek starts from Hudsar and continues till Mani Mahesh through Dancho which is located at an elevation of 2280 meters above the sea level. After reaching Dancho, you will pass through the Valley of Flowers and reach the glacier of the Lake.
Heading out on the Manimahesh trek, you will pass through the mystic Pir Panjal Mountain Ranges in Himachal Pradesh and many other sacred lakes in the Himalayan Region. Pilgrims mostly take this trek between the months of August and September when the Hindu festivals of Janmashtami to Radha Ashtami occur, whereas trekkers choose to begin their journey from the month of Mid May till October.
It takes about 8 days to cover this complete experience starting from travels from Delhi. In the course of the journey, you will get to stay in designated campsites where you will be provided with food and other necessities.
As per the popular legend, it is believed that after marrying Goddess Parvati who is also worshipped at Mata Girija, Lord Shiva created Manimahesh Peak. There is yet another story that narrates Lord Shiva showing his displeasure through the acts of Avalanches and blizzards which in return creates this peak.
The best and the easiest route to reach Manimahesh Kailash would be from Chamba through Bharmour. Several buses are plying at regular intervals to Hadsar via Bharmour. After reaching from Hadsar, you would need to cover the rest of the distance trekking for about 13 km. Most of the pilgrims and trekkers choose to spend time at Dancho, which is considered to be an important nighttime halting-place before reaching the peak.

The best time to visit Manimahesh for trekking would be from the month of April to September. Pilgrimage treks are specially curated from Janamashtami (August) to Radha Ashtami (September). However, trekking and other leisure expeditions are best suited from May to early September.
