Due to a feud with his brother Mugalan, King Kassapa founded the Sigiriya Kingdom in 495 AD. To keep safe, Prince Mugalan built his fortress on top of Sigiriya, which is bordered by densely populated forest.
- Dambulla Cave Temple's History- The Dambulla Rock Temple was built during the reign of King Vattagamini Abhaya, commonly known as King Valagamba ( 103 BC and 89-77 BC ).
