The Afrika Museum in Berg en Dal is famous for its temporary exhibitions and permanent displays of traditional African artifacts and its vast collection of contemporary African art. Objects that speak about the customs and traditions of the Africans. The museum holds the traditional architecture of Lesotho, Ghana, Mali, and Cameroon tribes.
The Afrika Museum sports a collection of paintings and sculptures of the Balinese and Puri Lukisan of Ubud. Their collection is divided into objects and photographs out of which some are archived that can be accessed through the museum’s collections site. The museum has a total of twelve activities to choose from. You can even get a range of ethnographic items from the museum shop.
Ideally, a 60-minute tour is enough for the people visiting the Afrika Museum. It has something for everyone and is parallel to the timings of the museum hours. The Healing Power exhibitions take place on Sundays and last around 45 minutes. The African tale tour intermingles dance, song, and play with the history of Africa and is available throughout the year, and takes 45 minutes to complete.
The opening hours of the museum are from Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 5 pm and from 11 am to 5 pm on the weekends. The museum opens on Mondays from 10 am to 5 pm which coincides with public and school holidays. Different hours may be applicable on public holidays.
