LION’S HEAD

You are not really a Capetonian if you have never made it to the iconic Lion’s Head summit and viewed the sweeping views of the city from up there. Thus, get going on a clear, sunny day to catch the picture-perfect views of the Clifton Beaches, Camps Bay, the 12 Apostles Mountain Range and, the Robben Island.

For any hiking enthusiast this iconic piece looming over Cape Town and surrounding the ocean like a picket, adds to the wondrous topography of the city. You can continue climbing uphill or just take a breather to make the most of the spellbinding scenery here.

Also, keep an eye out for the silver Protea growing on the slopes that is a part of the stunning range of endemic flora found here. Unique to the Cape Peninsula, this species emits a silvery sheen that adds to the exotic beauty of the place besides other vegetation like amaryllis, irises, hyacinths and orchids.
